This guide describes how to manage LiveRacers domain by the domain super admin, and domain admins. Any features described here are not available for standard users.
It is admin's responsibility to create and manage events. Any admin - league super admin, or league admin can do this. Each event is associated with one or more league admins. This is at the moment for information purposes only, o the league members know whom to contact if needed.
Creating Event
To create a new event, go to League Dashboard page and use . Fill in the required fields like Application, Name or Track, Date, configure Race Weekend and Classes (if applicable). Select one color to represent this event throughout the system.
The admin can choose whether the event registration is mandatory, or optional - Requires Drivers Event Registration. The advantage of registration is knowing how many, and which drivers will be racing, to prepare enough dedicated servers. It's also better for the league members to see which drivers will enter the event.
Editing Event
It is possible to change event settings at any time. To edit an event, use from the event page. Note that some settings are read-only if the event is not in draft status. Read below for more info about statuses.
Managing Event Status
- When an event is created, it's in the Draft status. This is the only time when you can modify all event settings. While in Draft, the event is not publicly visible. Only admins can see events in Draft (in calendar e.g.).
- After the admin is satisfied with the event settings, it needs to be started using . The event status will change to Open, and provided it does not take place further ahead than the domain setting 'Events & Championships Entry Open Period', league members can enter. At this point the admin can also add any previous results.
- When event is not in draft status, some settings, like Classes, cannot be changed. The status can be changed back to Draft, but that will reset the all driver registrations.
- After all event sessions are linked with actual results, the system will change the status to Awaiting Confirmation. This is when admin should check the results, and confirm them using .
- After the results are confirmed, event is closed.
- Event can be cancelled using , to signal that it won't be hosted. This will cancel any existing the results.
- Event can also be deleted using . Note that this will not delete the session results linked with the event.
Linking Results with Event Sessions
The event needs to be linked with actual session results. The system will try to automatically link session results that match the configuration of the event sessions. It will use event settings like application, mod, track, session time, session duration and max laps to best match a result. If the automated linking does not succeed, the admin needs to manually add result using . It is possible to link multiple results with one event session, in case the drivers are split into multiple dedicated servers for the same event.
What about previous Results?
You can configure events for the past, and link your existing results to it. There is no limitation on the date of the events, if you want to link up your history, as well as configure future events.
Managing Event Members
Once the event is started, the members can start joining the event. The expectation is that members will join/leave events, without the admin having to do this. However the admin can also manage the users on their behalf (users that are registered on LiveRacers) - enter/leave or change class of any members, from the events page.
Managing Session Results
The system will try to auto-link your results as they complete, assign points and classes. However it's also possible to modify this manually for any session result. Note that the session result has to be first linked with the event.
- You can penalize individual drivers adding time penalty, or positoins penalty. See Penalty column on session result page.
- For championship events, drivers can score points. Points are auto-awarded based on your session configuration. You can also manually change points per driver. See Points column on session result page.
- For events with classes, the system auto-assigns driver class based on the event class configuration (name, vehicles). You can also manually change class. See Event Class column on session result page.
- You can change driver's team for one race. See Team column on session result page.
It is admin's responsibility to create and manage championships. Any admin - league super admin, or league admin can do this. Each championship is associated with one or more league admins. This is at the moment for information purposes only, o the league members know whom to contact if needed.
Creating Championship
To create a new championship, go to League Dashboard page and use . The creation wizard is split into few steps.
- Definition - fill in the required fields like Application, Name, configure Teams, scoring and entering limits, Classes (if applicable). Select one color to represent this championship, and its events, throughout the system. It is possible to manage all settings while in Draft, and some settings are also editable after the championship started.
- Race Weekend - similarly to events, configure the race weekend for the championship events. If you want to have different race weekends for some of the events, all sessions need to be defined here. You can then select different sessions for different events in next step. The Race Weekend configuration is for indication, and to drive the auto-linking of the results as they complete. You still have to run your dedicated servers as before, LiveRacers does not control your servers. It is possible to manage race weekend while in Draft, and also after the championship has started.
- Events - each championship has to contain at least one event. Many events can be generated using the repeat feature. Each event needs to have a track selected and can be further customized. By default championship events inherit their configuration from the championship configuration (race weekend, classes etc…). It is possible to manage events while in Draft, and also after the championship has started.
Editing Championship
It is possible to change championship settings at any time, or any championship event settings. To edit a championship, use from the championship page. Note that some settings are read-only if the championship is not in draft status. Read below for more info about statuses.
Managing Championship Status
- When a championship is created, it's in the Draft status. This is the only time when you can modify all championship settings. While in Draft, the championship is not publicly visible. Only admins can see championship in Draft (in calendar, championships page e.g.).
- After the admin is satisfied with the championship settings, it needs to be started using the . The championship status will change to Open, and provided it does not take place further ahead than the domain setting 'Events & Championships Entry Open Period', league members can enter. At this point the admin can also add any previous results to the championship events.
- When championship is not in draft status, some settings, like Classes, cannot be changed. The status can be changed back to Draft, but that will reset the all driver registrations.
- After all championship events are confirmed, the system will change the status to Awaiting Confirmation. This is when admin should check the results, and confirm them using 'Confirm Results'.
- After the results are confirmed, championship is closed.
- Championship results can be reset using . This will remove any championship and events' registrations and unlink all session results.
- Championship can be cancelled using , to signal that it won't be hosted. This will cancel any existing the results.
- Championship can also be deleted using . deleting all the championship events as well. Note that this will not delete the session results linked with the championship events.
What about my previous Results?
You can create championships that already started, or are even completed, and link your existing results to the championship events. This way you can build up the history of your league, as well as configure the future.
Managing Championship Members
Once the championship is started, the members can start entering. The expectation is that members will join/leave championship, without the admin having to do this. However the admin can also manage the drivers/teams on their behalf (users that are registered on LiveRacers) - enter/leave or change class of any members, on the championship or championship's events page. The admin can also manage each team's drivers, using the team options menu in the Admin column of standings.
